$16K in equipment and fuel stolen from county maintenance facility

WICHITA, Kansas – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a large theft of fuel and equipment from the county maintenance facility.

It happened between late Friday afternoon and Monday morning near the 4700 block of South West Street.

The suspects used a tractor to move concrete barricades to get access to the property.

The suspects took generators, saws, nail guns, a flat-bed trailer and 559 gallons of unleaded gas.

The loss is estimated at $16,015 with $1,300 in damages.

This is the fifth time this year, a county maintenance facility has been broken into.

There is no surveillance video, and no witnesses have come forward.

No arrests have been made in any of these cases.
