Principal honored with student flash mob

After 21 years serving Maize Elementary School, Principal Mike Mountain is stepping down and he got the send-off of a lifetime.

Mountain’s assistant principal told him they were doing a “fire drill.” Little did he know he would be surprised with a flash mob of students dancing and singing the song “Celebration” as a thank you for his service.

“I was very overcome, just to show that much love and appreciation, it meant a lot to me. It was fantastic. I have the best job that any guy could have,” said Principal Mountain.

Mountain is moving his family to Kansas City where he plans to do some missionary work, travel and write a book about all the funny things he has heard kids say over the years. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
