(KARE) Former University of Minnesota quarterback Philip Nelson emerged from jail Monday evening with a towel covering his head.

He eluded reporters and ducked into the back seat of an SUV, having posted bail set earlier in the day at $20,000.

Squads were called to Mankato, Minnesota downtown entertainment district just after 2 a.m. Sunday.

Officers found 24-year-old Isaac Kolstad on the ground suffering from a major head injury.
