Two convicted after entering pleas in fatal fire

WICHITA, Kansas – Two people charged with child endangerment after a 6-year-old girl died in a fire have been convicted after entering pleas.

Ruthie Bell, 28, pleaded no contest for the death of her daughter, Jakara Dickson, last July.

Dickson and two of her siblings were left alone when she accidentally started a fire in the family’s home.

Neighbors rescued the siblings, but Dickson died of her injuries.

Bell will be sentenced June 25th.

On Friday, 23-year-old Adrian Johnson pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated endangering a child, two counts of possession of controlled substances, and one count of possession of control substances.

A sentencing date for Johnson is not yet available.
