NORMAL, IL – The WSU softball team’s season ended in the semifinal round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, with a 4-2 loss to Bradley on Friday.
Recently breaking the school’s home run record, Cacy Williams went 2-for-4 in the loss with two RBIs and a double for the Shockers, while Ashley Johnson was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.
Overcoming an early deficit, the Braves hit back-to-back homers to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning. WSU’s Sloan Anderson replaced Katie Malone on the hill, after the freshman allowed seven hits and three runs in four innings.
The Shocks finished their historic season with a 34-21 record. They also broke numerous team records including highest batting average at .314, highest slugging percentage at .492, and most home runs with 56.
