Police shooting caught on camera

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (KOB) – Police in Albuquerque, New Mexico have released 45 seconds of helmet-cam footage from a fatal weekend standoff.

On Saturday SWAT officer Daniel Hughes shot and killed 50-year-old retired Air Force colonel Armand Martin at the end of a five-hour standoff.

The video APD chose to release Tuesday has been limited to less than 45 seconds of video taken after Martin was shot by police, but not what led up to it.

“Our goal was to get whatever we could as soon as we could,” APD Deputy Chief Eric Garcia said during a news briefing.

Garcia said detectives are still reviewing hours of helmet-cam video from Saturday’s shooting.

“Mr. Martin exited his home with a handgun in each hand, and fired shots,” Garcia said.

That video hasn’t been released yet.
