Police arrest two men for stealing guns from Salina sporting goods store

SALINA, Kansas – Salina police arrested two men in connection to a burglary at Cleve’s Sporting Goods Store.

Sixty eight of 118 guns stolen from Cleve’s Marine and Sporting Goods on April 14 were found in the apartment of a 32-year-old Thursday night.

Police Capt. Mike Sweeney says investigators were led to the apartment after two stolen guns were found hidden in an area where a driver was arrested Wednesday.

Police found the two guns after arresting 27-year-old Gregory Walburn who walked away from the traffic stop. Information from the stop led to 32-year-old Matthew Hewitt’s arrest.  The weapons were allegedly found in his apartment.

Authorities are seeking federal charges against both men in connection to the case.
