United Way of the Plains setting up coordination of tornado cleanup

WICHITA, Kansas – The United Way of the Plains is responding to a request from the Kansas Division of Emergency Management to set up coordination of volunteers to clean up debris left from this weekend’s tornado damage in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

“We plan to set up a structure that will empower the local community to coordinate an efficient and speedy cleanup for the residents affected by Saturday’s tornado,” said Mark Stump, United Way of the Plains’ director of direct services.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help with cleanup in Baxter Springs should call 2-1-1 (United Way’s 24-hour information line).

Individuals interested in donating for Baxter Springs tornado relief can make checks payable to United Way of the Plains with “Baxter Springs Tornado” in memo line, and mail to United Way of the Plains, 245 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67202.
