YMCA’s Water Safety Day

WICHITA, Kan. — Making sure kids are safe when they go swimming was the goal of the YMCA’s annual Water Safety Day.

The event took place across all Wichita and Andover locations. Certified swimming instructors were on hand to offer advice on how to prevent children from drowning.

“As the warm weather approaches and people start filling up their pools, there’s going to be a lot of water around and we want to help the kids if they were to fall in,” said Megan Rainwater, Aquatics Coordinator at the downtown YMCA location.

The Water Wise program was offered at only the downtown location last year but it was so successful that they decided to expand it to all locations.
