Southbound I-135 in Newton to be detoured Sunday, May 4

NEWTON, Kansas – Southbound I-135 will be closed the morning of Sunday, May 4 at the U.S. 50 and K-15 interchange during repair work on the 24th Street bridge over I-135.

The closure will begin at about 8 a.m. May 4 and will last about four hours.

Traffic will be detoured from I-135 to U.S. 50 to K-15 to South Kansas to 36th Street to I-135.

The contractor, Wildcat Construction, will be doing demolition and emergency repairs to the 24th Street bridge, which was struck by a semi truck earlier this month.

The Kansas Department of Transportation will handle all traffic control.
