Man thrown from couch after car crashes into home

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say they arrested a man for DUI and aggravated battery after he crashed into a home.

It started in the 6400 block of West Central Friday morning after 1 a.m.

Police attempted to stop a Mercury for a traffic violation in the 6400 block of West Central.

The man didn’t stop and fled the scene.

They finally found him at the 5800 block of Murdock when his car ran into Mark DeMoura’s home.

DeMoura was asleep on the couch in the living room, and he was thrown off and landed in the kitchen.

“All of a sudden, I felt moving, and I heard glass and stuff flying everywhere,” said Mark DeMoura. “I knew someone ran through my house and parked their car right in the middle of the living room.”

DeMoura received minor injuries. He refused medical treatment.

He says he is lucky to be alive.

“You can build a new house, but you can’t buy a new life. I’m glad nobody got killed,” added DeMoura.”You take a look at this house, and I wonder how anyone made it.
