OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (KFOR) – An 83-year-old woman stunned everyone in town, including authorities, after police were tipped off she was selling drugs out of her house in Stonewall, Oklahoma.
The town is so small there is no stop light, but people in town were definitely stopping and taking a second look when they realized something at the elderly woman’s house was not right.
A lot of things come up to this quaint little white and yellow house.
Bird feeders attract birds, and according to police, something else was attracting quite the crowd.
Stonewall Police Chief Joshua Vincent said, “We had a few people come to me and tell me they’ve been seeing a lot of vehicles coming and leaving from the residence.”
They told officers they thought Patsey Marlene Maxwell may be selling illegal drugs.
Vincent said he gathered a few more clues and then called the DA’s drug task force.
Authorities raided Maxwell’s home.
“They found several pounds of marijuana,” Vincent said. “They found a little .22 pistol.”
Authorities say it was high-grade marijuana, and some of it was individually wrapped for distribution.
They also found cash and drug paraphernalia.
Maxwell also lives within 2,000 feet of a school.
After the discovery, police hauled the elderly woman off to jail.
Some of Maxwell’s neighbors knew police had been to her home and were stunned when they learned why.
“Nice!” One neighbor said. “She’s a little ole bitty lady.”
“If you saw her you’d just think it was somebody’s grandma walking to the store or going to the post office,” Vincent said. “A lot of people were really surprised about it.”
Maxwell was charged three counts of unlawful distribution of CDS within 2,000 feet of a school, two counts of unlawful use of a telecommunication device to facilitate a felony and one count of possession of firearm in the commission of a felony.
Authorities say after Maxwell was booked into jail, she made one phone call and was bonded out the same day.
