Help for those who are laid off

Aircraft Workers

WICHITA, Kansas – There are several resources to help the 575 workers laid off at Cessna and Beechcraft.

The United Way of the Plains does not have plans at this time to open a Laid-Off Workers Center, but we will continue to monitor the situation.

In the past, the United Way has opened a center when local layoffs reach a large enough number that the available social services become extremely overloaded.

As far as local services available, here are a few:

United Methodist Open Door Food Pantry – 267-4201

Catholic Charities Food Pantry – 262-8898

Wichita Workforce Center – 771-6800

As far as information on other jobs, here are a few KSN has collected.

HRePartners – Kansas HRePartners is an association of employers pooling their resources to provide convenient access to information and excellent service to our customers.

Spirit Aerosystems – Spirit is looking to fill approximately 250 positions in Wichita. The open positions include opportunities primarily for engineers and mechanics.
