Wichitan talks about competing in Boston Marathon

WICHITA, Kansas – Nearly 36,000 runners took part in the Boston Marathon this morning.

One of them was Wichitan Heath Larson.

This is the second time Heath competed in the race.

His first time was in 2009.

Heath says the bombings near the finish line last year gave him a little extra motivation to qualify and run Boston again this year.

Heath made it across the finish line in 2:56:54.

“I saw several runners that were running with prosethetics, and I’m assuming at least a couple of them were from the incident last year so that was pretty inspiring,” said Health. “Everyone had a sign, and I probably gave 500 high fives to little kids along the course and saw seven or eight bands. Again, I probably heard “Team Beef!” a thousand times.”

Throughout the duration of the 26.2 mile course, Heath maintained a pace of a 6 minute 48 second mile or faster.
