Shox slam Salukis, completing three-game sweep

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita State University  hammered Southern Illinois 11-1 on Sunday, completing a three-game sweep.

For the second time in the series, the game was called after the top of the seventh inning due to the run rule.

Sam Tewes picked up the win improving to 6-2 on the year. He pitched six innings and gave up one run (unearned) on four hits with two strikeouts and four walks.

Daniel Kihle and Casey Gillaspie led the way for the Shockers. Kihle went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs, while Gillaspie went 3-for-4 with two RBIs on the day. Matt Jones was 2-2 to lead Southern Illinois.

The Shockers’ next game is on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. They’ll take on the Missouri Tigers at 7:05 p.m.
