Clutch hitting by Parker leads WSU past Salukis

WICHITA, Kansas – With two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning on Saturday, WSU’s Dayne Parker singled home the winning run, giving WSU a 4-3 victory over Southern Illinois.

Parker also tied the game at three apiece in the bottom of the 11th, hitting his first home run of the year.

Aaron LaBrie picked up the win and improved to 3-2 on the season, while Tyler Dray took the loss, dropping him to 0-2.

Cale Elam pitched eight and a third innings and gave up two runs on four hits with two strikeouts.

Todd Eaton threw seven and a third innings and surrendered two runs on ten hits while striking out three.

With WSU going for the sweep, the final game of the Shockers’ three-game series with Southern Illinois gets underway on Sunday at noon at Eck Stadium.
