WICHITA, Kansas – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, Wichita Police Department, and the Kansas Highway Patrol conducted Operation “Cops On Rails/Officer On The Train” in Wichita.

The operation took place Wednesday between the hours of 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Officers wrote ten citations and gave out nine warnings for violations to railroad crossing statutes.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad would like to remind motorists that when a train is approaching a railroad crossing to stop, look, listen, and live.

Trains cannot stop, and they always have the right-of-way.
