Malone’s no-hitter propels WSU past Missouri State

WSU’s Katie Malone pitched her first career no-hitter Wednesday, as the Shockers defeated Missouri State 12-0.  It marked the Shox first no-hitter since 2006 when Margo Pruis shut out Northern Colorado.

WSU backed up Malone offensively reeling off 16 hits.  Brittany Fortner went 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and six RBIs.  Cacy Williams finished 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs on the day.

The Shox are next in action when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the Drake Bulldogs in a three-game series April 18-19, starting with a 2:00 p.m. game on Friday.
