WICHITA, Kansas – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s office reminds residents to keep an eye on their mail.

A recent string of mailbox thefts continues county-wide.

Deputies are investigating a case on Hickory Circle on the west side of the county.

Homeowners report receiving two packages from Pier 1 they say they didn’t order.

“It was discovered that an unknown person had taken a Pier 1 Imports card from the mailbox of the residence between March 27th and 28th and used it to purchase $2100 worth of items in the homeowner’s name,” said Lt. David Mattingly, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s office says these kind of incidents have been happening off and on for weeks.

The office says it is important to watch your credit card reports and make sure you are home when packages arrive. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
