WICHITA, Kansas – A Kansas Department of Transportation highway preservation project on K-254 from Woodlawn to the Butler County line began today.

Traffic will be affected with daytime single lane closures of six miles, and slight delays may be experienced by drivers.

All lanes will be open during the overnight hours.

Project work includes surface milling and an asphalt overlay on the driving lanes and shoulders of the highway.

The surface milling will be completed first so traffic will be driving on milled surfaces for at least one week.

Cornejo & Sons of Wichita is the lead contractor on the $2,007,130.75 project.

It should be completed in May if no significant weather delays occur.

The project is part of the highway preservation component of T-WORKS, an $8 billion, 10-year transportation program approved by the 2010 Kansas Legislature.

More information on the program is available at http://kdotapp.ksdot.org/TWorks/.
