WICHITA, Kan. – A big storm system is plowing through Kansas, expected to bring severe storms and even snow through Monday morning.
We should see showers and thunderstorms fire up along a cold front around lunch time in central Kansas. The most likely start time for storms will be around 1 p.m. Some of these storms could be strong to severe with large hail as the primary threat as well as strong winds. A few tornadoes cannot be ruled out at this time.
It’s not quite over as the storms exit this evening. Much colder air will race in tonight allowing for below freezing temperatures by Monday morning. On top of that, with leftover moisture, snow will be possible.
Accumulations of a trace to 2 inches will be possible for western Kansas. In Wichita and central Kansas, rain will transition to a few flurries overnight, little to no accumulation expected. Just enough to make you wonder what month is it?
