KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KSHB) – At least 20 cases are now under investigation in connection with a spate of roadway shootings over the past month in the Kansas City area.
The last shooting was reported Sunday, but since Kansas City police released information about the 13 shootings to the public, they’ve received more than 20 tips and at least seven more reports of cars being struck by gunfire.
Police said Tuesday they were able to connect some of the shootings to each other, but Captain Tye Grant denied media reports of a specific number of connected cases. Officially, the shootings are believed to have started in early March and have taken place at varying times and various locations throughout the metro area.
Seven of the shootings have been reported in the Three Trails Crossing area, also known as the Grandview Triangle. Three people in the 13 shootings have been injured. On Tuesday, KCPD announced it was increasing the reward for information leading to an arrest.
Patrols in the Three Trails Crossing area have been increased, police said.
