LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say the passenger on a small plane that crashed on a field in suburban Kansas City suffered serious injuries.

Lee’s Summit police Sgt. Chris Depue said in a statement that the Cessna 210 single-engine plane came to rest Sunday in a field on the edge of a park in the city.

He says rescue crews removed the pilot and passenger from the plane and took them to hospitals.

Depue says the pilot suffered only minor injuries but the other man’s injuries were listed as serious.

Police haven’t disclosed the men’s names and were trying to determine where the plane took off from and where it was heading. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
