DOUGLASS, Kansas – The school bus driver who drove into a swollen Butler County Creek will not go to trial.
Morris Peterson was granted a diversion on one count of endangering a child.
A previous reckless driving charge had been dropped by the state.
Peterson was driving the Douglass school bus with several children on board over a flooded bridge when it was swept off the road on its side on Halloween.
It prompted a swift water rescue.
The children managed to escape, and no one was injured.
Peterson’s trial was set to happen on Wednesday.
