Woman sentenced for role in shooting deputy

WICHITA, Kansas – A 27-year-old woman accused in the shooting of a Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison.

Clara Crosser pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree murder and other charges for her role in a chase that ended in the March 2013 shooting of a Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputy.

The Sedgwick County deputy testified that he lost vision in 25 percent of his right eye, and the vision is blurry in the other 75 percent.

Co-defendant Jason Perez is scheduled to stand trial next week on 14 charges.
