Beer rage shooting

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (WCNC) – A North Carolina man is in custody after a dispute over buying beer led to an officer-involved shooting in Indian Trail early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened at a Circle K gas station around 4:15 a.m.

“The clerk couldn’t sell it to him and had to refused to sell it to him. He started causing her problems in the store and a highway patrolman just happened to stop by the store,” said Union County Sheriff Eddie Cathey.

Cathey says Sims pulled a gun while speaking with the officers and opened fire.

The trooper and deputy returned fire before Sims ran into a field and was later caught by police.

No one was seriously injured during the incident.
