WICHITA, Kansas – The Wichita State Shocker basketball team has punched a ticket to the NCAA Tournament as a #1 seed in the Midwest Regional in St. Louis.
Fans here and across the country will look to join the Shockers at the Scott Trade Center for the games, something the Wichita State Alumni Association is hoping to help achieve.
The WSU Alumni Association has set up some travel packages that will get the fans to St. Louis and back to Wichita.
Alumni Association President Debbie Kennedy says they did this last and budgeted for it again this year, before the season even started.
So far, Kennedy says, they’ve got a few different options to get fans to St. Louis.
“We’ve got four buses reserved, two are full, so we have two more to fill up and than we’re putting a charter together and we need 130 to 140 people,” said Kennedy.
The packages include hotel accommodations, as well as some Shocker fan gear.
Kennedy says the reason behind the travel packages is to make sure the team has the most support possible, as they look to make another run in the NCAA Tournament.
“We have to support our team, we don’t want to be one and done, we want to be six and done, we want to win all six games,” said Kennedy.
Fans who watched the Selection Sunday say they are already gearing up to travel, as long as the Shockers continue their winning ways.
“I want to go to Indianapolis, I’m thinking they’re going to make it to the second round, so at least Indianapolis and hopefully the final four because I want to drive to Dallas,” said Mandy Pfister, a WSU Alumni.
