WICHITA, Kansas — So, what happens to a dream put on hold? For one young woman, it actually ends up getting her on national television.
KSN introduced Kaleigh Glanton last night after she appeared on the show “The Voice”. Kaleigh sang her version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s song “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” in front of the four judges and wowed them all, getting four chairs to turn. After each judge tried to sway her to their team, Kaleigh chose Blake Shelton as her coach.
KSN has followed up on the new star to find out more about her story and her feelings now that the blind audition episode has aired.
Before Kaleigh even knew she had the opportunity for the blind audition she had made the decision to stop pursuing a career in music, but this may just turn that whole ship around.
It’s been a long journey for her to make her dreams come true and go from singing at her home to singing on a stage in front of a national audience.
“I think last night when the show aired, I think that was the first time that it hit me that this is happening,” said Kaleigh.
For the 20-year-old, it’s a dream come true. One that she had let go but now with the encouragement of family and friends and the backing of celebrity coach Blake Shelton, Kaleigh is ready to try again.
“After Adam turned around I kinda was like alright, well you know, I’m in, and I wasn’t expecting anything after that, so then when Shakira and then Blake and then Usher, it was unbelievable that’s the only way I can describe it,” said Kaleigh. “I felt like I had an out of body experience really.”
For Glanton, who spent the past four years singing with her father, it was a new experience hitting the stage solo and possibly more difficult for her father than for her.
“It felt great and we were at one gig and I just realized and I said to her you know, this is going to be one of the last gigs that we ever do together and it’s bittersweet,” said Howard Glanton, Kaleigh’s father.
For Kaleigh, she’s taking the reins on the opportunity to take her talents as far as she possibly can.
“Basically, I’m just going to do everything I can to make it in this industry because this is my life. I gave up music for awhile and I just felt very lost and so now with doing this now I know this is what I’m supposed to do and so I’m going to do everything I can to make sure it happens,” said Kaleigh.
