WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say a woman and infant received minor injuries when their car crashed into a home.

It happened Monday night at 11th and Volutsia in northeast Wichita.

According to police, a 22-year-old woman was stopped at 11th and Volutsia when a 26-year-old man jumped in her window and tried to steal her car. She accelerated.

“The suspect started pulling on the wheel. This caused the vehicle to strike a curb and drive inside a house in the 1200 block of North Volutsia,” said Capt. Doug Nolte.

The woman in the car suffered injuries to her foot.

The 2-year-old girl received minor injuries.

They were both taken to Wesley Medical Center.

The two people inside the home were not injured, but the home did receive significant damage.

Police say the 26-year-old suspect was located in the 1200 block of North Hillside with a cut to his arm.

He was transported to Wesley Medical Center where he was admitted for cuts and behavioral issues.
