WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say they arrested a 53-year-old man for taking copper wiring from Westar.

It happened in the 1900 block of East Central early Tuesday morning.

Westar contacted police after noticing a man taking up to 75 pounds of copper wiring on surveillance video.

Officers arrived and arrested a 53-year-old man.

“Westar did a great job working with the police department to coordinate and call when they saw something happening and quick response by officers was made to take a suspect into custody,” said Capt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.
