Shocker basketball fans head to St. Louis

WICHITA, Kansas – The Wichita State Shockers are already in St. Louis, and Thursday afternoon, seven bus loads of fans will join them.

The buses left Village Charters in west Wichita around 7:30 a.m.

The fans will join hundreds of others traveling to Arch Madness on their own.

The Wichita State Alumni Association has scheduled pep rallies before each game and has arranged dining facilities and other gathering spots for fans.

“I’m an alumni of Wichita State, 1980. I’m from Rockford, Illinois, home of Fred VanVleet. Rockford, Illinois is loving it. He’s our poster child,” said Cathy Knight, Shocker fan.

“I went to Atlanta last year, and there’s nothing like it. Going to Dallas this year. It’s just been awesome,” said Steve Seidnater, Shocker fan.

Dallas is where the Final Four will be held April 5th and 7th if the Shockers make it. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
