WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say a passenger in car suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach in a drive-by shooting.

It happened 9 p.m. Wednesday night in the 1400 block of North Hillside.

Police say the car was traveling north when a man in a gray Chevy Impala pulled up beside the car and began firing shots.

“One of the bullets went through the car and struck a passenger in the front seat grazing the front passenger’s stomach,” said Capt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.

The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle took the 20-year-old passenger to Wesley where he was treated and released.

Three others were inside the car at time of the shooting. They were not injured.

“At this point, we don’t know any relationship between the suspect and the victim. The victim is not aware of any reason why anyone was shooting at them,” said Nolte.

Police are still looking for the suspect.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 267-2111 or investigators at 268-4191.
