WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police were called to the city’s south side Friday morning after a toddler was found wandering in the street.

The 911 call came in at about 5:15 a.m.

“When officers arrived to the location where the child was, the officers did some checking to where the child came from. It was determined that there was a house a block away at a day care,” said Capt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.

Police believe the day care provider had no knowledge that the boy wandered out.

“Obviously, it is the early morning hours, and the child was supposed to be asleep and wandered out,” said Nolte.

The 2-year-old boy was returned to the parent.

Police have not made any arrests.
