WICHITA, Kansas – The bill to fix the Safe Haven Law is now in a Senate committee.

The legislation was drafted by a Hutchinson lawmaker who saw KSN’s extensive coverage of a mother who left her newborn at a Wichita hospital.

Police released her picture to the media.

KSN raised concerns about why her identity wasn’t protected now.

The bill aims to fix that.

On Wednesday, the bill passed the House and is now in a Senate committee.
