HAYS, Kansas – Gerald Wyman was more surprised than anyone that his business was singled out by the Huffington Post.
“I think it’s terrific to think that they picked us out one of the best things to do in the state of Kansas. They come to Liquid Bread and have a pint of oatmeal stout, I think that is terrific.”
But it’s no hidden treasure to the many people have been enjoying the beer for years.
“It’s good, we love it, it’s what draws us, it’s excellent, it’s always good on tap,” said Norman Keller, Hays resident.
The oatmeal stout took 16 years to perfect and has a become a crowd favorite drawing in people from all over.
“Well, I read the article in the Huffington Post. My two roommates work for a brewery in Denver, and I told them during my travels that I’d bring them back a growler full of the beer and after I read that article I thought I’d stop by Hays on my way back to Denver,” said Davis Jonland, Denver.
Gella’s Diner has won awards for more than just its oatmeal stout.
It’s hoping all the attention will bring in people from across the state.
