BRIGHTON, Massachusetts (WHDH) – One pot-bellied pig in a wheelchair, named Chris P. Bacon, made kids laugh and smile at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton, Massachusetts Wednesday morning.
Bacon was born without the use of his back legs he made a long journey to help brighten the day for sick kids.
The one-year-old pot-bellied pig was born without the use of his back legs, and was set to be euthanized. That’s when Len Lucero stepped in. He saved Chris’ life and then changed his life by making a wheelchair for him to get around with.
His story of hope is bringing hope to children facing similar challenges.
“Most of the children here are in wheelchairs and to have a pig sharing this experience with them must be an exciting time for them,” said John Nash, President and CEO, Franciscan Hospital for Children.
How often do you get to see a pig in a wheelchair who loves munching on Cheerios?
“I want to take him home because he’s funny,” one girl said.
“He’s talking to us,” another girl said.
Chris, or Mr. Bacon will be in Boston until Thursday then he’s headed home to Florida to get a break from the chilly temperatures.
