Shockers make history with 30th win

WICHITA, Kansas — The Shockers are in the record books after winning game number 30 Tuesday night.

It’s been kind of a history lesson for college basketball fans. 25 teams have completed undefeated regular seasons but none of those teams have ever won 30 games before the postseason.

Tuesday night, with a 69-49 victory over Bradley, the Shockers put themselves in the history books and moved their record to 30-0.

“Of the previous 11 to get to 30-0, all 11 made the Elite Eight, 10 of the 11 made the Final Four and 6 of them won the whole thing,” said Mike Kennedy, the voice of the Shockers. “There’s so much excitement it’s just unbelievable. Especially as a follow-up to the Final Four run last year.

That Final Four run, Mike Kennedy and many others believe gives Wichita State’s streak some credibility but there are some skeptics still. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
