MAIZE, Kansas – Maize will have to change their schedule because of several snow days.

The district says because of snow days taken Feb. 4-6, they will need to make up a shortfall of hours.

The district will be extending the school day schedule by five minutes for all K-12 students at the elementary, middle and high schools beginning after Spring Break on Monday, March 24.

It will run through the end of the school year.

If there are future snow days, the school district says days will need to be added on to the end of the year.

In Kansas, the state requires students to attend a minimum number of school hours per school year:

  • 465 hours for kindergarten
  • 1,116 hours for grades 1 through 11
  • 1,086 hours for grade 12
