UPDATE: Sheriff’s Office makes arrest in Kingman County homicide

NASHVILLE, Kansas — The Kingman County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the death of a 57 year old man in Nashville, Kansas. The man has been identified as Curtis Lee Shelton.

It is currently being investigated as a homicide and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

On the afternoon of February 21, 2014 the Kingman County Sheriff’s Office was asked to make a welfare check on Shelton at his home. Kingman County Deputy found Shelton deceased in the residence. He was living alone at the time.

Officers arrested Dean Alan Cowles, 46 of Kingman. He was booked into the Kingman County jail in connection to the death of Shelton.

Cowles’ bond is set at $750,000.
