Gov. Brownback orders flags lowered in honor of Rep. Mike Peterson

TOPEKA, Kansas – In accordance with Executive Order 10-12, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down throughout the state of Kansas in honor of the passing of State Representative Mike Peterson from now until his interment, Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014.

Rep. Peterson passed away Tuesday morning.

“Representative Mike Peterson was a life-long public servant and proud Kansan,” Gov. Brownback said. “Mike was a man of his word and served the people of Wyandotte County well. My prayers and thoughts are with his wife Robin, and the family and friends who he loved so dearly. Rep. Peterson will be greatly missed.”

Rep. Peterson first served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 1979 to 1990 and returned in 2005.

He represented part of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.
