Wichita State (27-0, 14-0 MVC) hits the road tonight against another conference opponent. This time the Shockers will look to take down a struggling Loyola of Chicago team.
The Ramblers have only two wins in their last nine games and are looking for a bright spot as their season comes to an end. The 9-17 club is currently ranked last in their first season in the Missouri Valley, tied with Evansville at 4-10 conference record.
The Shockers however are on the opposite end of the spectrum and are one of two undefeated teams in the nation. Moving up to No. 3 in the AP Polls this week behind Syracuse and Florida, WSU also received another honor in being featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Some are worried about a jinx but the Shockers say they aren’t worried.
With four games remaining on the schedule, the likeliness of finishing undefeated look better than ever. Only two of the four remaining teams have an overall record over .500 and both of those teams, Drake and Missouri State, have to travel to Charles Koch Arena and try to pull the upset.
Last time the Shockers met with Loyola, they relied heavily on their defense as they shot 36.5 percent from the field and the Ramblers shot 35.3 percent. WSU pulled out that victory 57-45. This time they would like to fire on all cylinders offensively like they have recently with Cleanthony Early averaging 18.0 points and Ron Baker averaging 14.4 points over the last eight games.
The game is set to tipoff at 7:00 p.m. Central Time. Coverage will be available on KSN at 10:00 p.m. tonight.
