WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are looking for a man they say abducted a woman while he was on the run from officers.

They initially tried to stop the man’s car on I-235 near Meridian for drug paraphernalia Sunday night.

Police say he fled to the YMCA parking lot where he jumped into the car of a 19-year-old woman.

She says he forced her to drive him around and then to the Walmart on West Kellogg where he ran inside.

“When she got over there, he left the vehicle and went inside. She was able to drive off,” said Lt. Doug Notle, Wichita Police Department. “It was determined through some investigation that the 43-year-old male, previously getting in her car, had been on a traffic stop with officers in that area.”

Police are still looking for the kidnapper.
