WICHITA, Kansas – A 4-year-old boy received a laceration after he got stuck between an escalator and a wall.

It happened at the Dillards store located at Towne East Square Monday afternoon.

“This escalator movement forced the child’s head against the wall causing the wall to break. It caused an inch laceration to the child’s eye,” said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.

Employees were able to shut the escalator off.

EMS was called, and the child was transported to the hospital in good condition.

Police say the child’s mother was with him, and the 4-year-old was not paying attention.

“After being told several times not to play in the escalator, he unfortunately got himself into a position where he injured himself,” said Nolte.
