Shamed Into Confessing

(WESH) — A burglary suspect is behind bars after offering a public confession and apology to his victim.

Volusia, Florida police say 21-year-old Desmond Blair was caught red-handed with the victim’s belongings, including jewelry, and she tore into him.

“You need to think about what you did today, behind bars, learn from it, change,” Gentile Ivey said as she confronted Blair at the scene.

An irate Ivey was called home from work to find a back window at her home shattered and the man accused of breaking in handcuffed and in the back of a patrol car.

“If you don’t change your life now, starting today, the next stop for you could be death,” Ivey said.

Under the weight of those warning words from Ivey, Blair suddenly softened.
