Suspect arrested in radio station death

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police have arrested the suspect accused of killing 25-year-old Daniel Flores.

Flores was beaten and killed at Steckline Communications Monday.  He suffered severe blunt force trauma.

Antwon Banks, the 31-year-old suspect, was apprehended just after 10 p.m. Wednesday at 37th and Woodlawn.

Banks stabbed himself in the stomach after being apprehended by police near his home in northeast Wichita.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Banks was booked on charges of first degree murder in commission of a felony and aggravated burglary charges upon release from the hospital. He was officially arrested on Feb. 14 at 7:01 p.m.

Police say Banks dated a woman who worked at the station, but they are no longer together.

Police say Flores was likely not the target and was in the wrong place at the time.

A tip to Crime Stoppers led police to the suspect.

Banks is being held on $750,000 bond.
