Shockers pursue win No. 26

The Wichita State Shockers are facing Southern Illinois and looking to stay perfect on the season. The streak is alive at 25 and tonight the quest for 26 will take place at the Roundhouse in Wichita.

The No. 4 Shockers just outlasted Northern Iowa 82-73 on the road Saturday. Cleanthony Early and Fred VanVleet both had scary moments in the game where they went down hurt but both bounced back to help lead the team to victory.

Now only six games stand between the Shockers and an undefeated regular season. They would be the first team to accomplish the feat since St. Joseph went 27-0 back in 2004. Some are surprised by the Shockers being in this position despite losing four seniors from their Final Four run last year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
