WICHITA, Kansas – Kansans spent Monday stocking up for the winter storm. Many flocked to area stores to get supplies.
“We might get up to seven inches, and it’s gonna be a mess tomorrow, and I wanted to get out and getting everything I needed today,” said Stephanie, shopper.
“We’ve been busy all morning especially when they’re predicting a lot of of snow.”
Making sure to get the staples from bread, to milk, bottled water and eggs.
“They’re the things you run out of the quickest. Comfort foods people like to buy when they know they’re going to be snowed in for a day or two.”
More than just groceries are flying off the shelves.
The Indian Hills Ace Hardware store is going through salt by the pallet
“Lots of snow shovels, lots of ice melt, everywhere from ice scrapers, hats you name it anything cold weather related. We have been crazy busy today. Everybody’s preparing.”
The store is expecting season totals for salt sales to pass last year by a considerable amount.
“We have no less than nine pallets coming in in the next few days and nine pallets on reserve so we should be good.”
