Semi strikes highway patrol car

SHAWNEE COUNTY, Kansas (KSNT) – A Kansas Highway Patrol Officer was hit by a semi truck while in his car watching for people speeding in a construction zone.

The crash happened at about 7:45 this morning on westbound Highway 24 near Topeka.

A semi truck missed the curve through the construction zone and struck the trooper, pushing his car further into the construction zone.

The trooper, Greg Kyser, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 24 was shut down all morning.

The highway is back open.
