NEW ALBANY, Mississippi (NBC/WMC) – A stubborn fire at the biodiesel facility in northern Mississippi is still burning after several explosions rocked the area.

This video is the third explosion that happened at the plant, which converts chicken fat to alternative fuel.

Firefighters arrived on the scene after a fuel tank exploded early Wednesday morning, starting a massive blaze.

But they were unable to do much for some time for fear of additional explosions. Two more blasts followed, all heard and felt from miles away.

The accident damaged a power substation nearby. That knocked out electricity in the vicinity.

Officials planned to let the fire burn itself out.

Authorities said nobody was injured.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
