Vaccinations to be available at Vt. farm show

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Agency of Agriculture says free health screenings and vaccinations are going to be available to the state’s 82nd Farm Show.

The free immunizations against, tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis, or whooping cough, will available Jan. 28-Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Healthy Farmers-Healthy Farms booth.

After an initial dose of the vaccine, known as Tdap, health experts recommend adults be immunized every 10 years to maintain protection. Tetanus enters the body through cuts and scratches. Tetanus bacteria live are commonly found in soils contaminated with manure.

Free health screenings and information will also be available. They will include blood pressure screening, blood glucose monitoring and DermaScan screening for sun damage.

The farm show will be held at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction.
